Basic Concepts:
Primary goal- to get the pole to vertical just as the vaulter completes the push off. In order to learn
safe efficient technique the vaulter must get the vaulting pole to vertical on a consistent basis.
Secondary goal- to push-off above the top hand as great a distance as possible.
1. Factors which influence Pole Speed:
1.

Energy-
Run way speed and take-off jumping power
2. Efficiency- Take off angle, weight distribution, and swinging speed.
3. Resistance- Occurs in two forms: Hand hold height and Pole stiffness
4. Ways to increase pole speed?
5. Ways to decrease pole speed?
